Camping in Las Vegas

LA Camping

There are three words that I never thought I would ever say in a single sentence: Las Vegas camping. Somehow the terms just don’t seem to go together very well. This is probably why I told my husband he was crazy when he said that he booked a Las Vegas camping trip last year.

When I think of Sin City, I picture big city lights and lots of gambling. The last thing on my mind is a quite get-away, hikes and tents. However, I soon discovered that there is much more to this location then I ever dreamed possible. My experience with the Las Vegas camping trip completely changed my whole point of view.

The first think I was to discuss is what you want to wear to a Las Vegas camping trip. While some may suggest that you wear long sleeves and relaxed fit slacks to keep the sun off of your skin, you might want to put that advice aside. The first day of our Las Vegas camping adventure was really uncomfortable especially since I was dressed from head to toe.

Wear shorts and a t-shirt. Trust me. You can expect to do a lot of walking during the Las Vegas camping trip and you really want to keep cool. Otherwise you might find yourself feeling tired and uncomfortable. The first day of the Las Vegas camping trip had me dreaming of card tables, air conditioning and a cold drink.

I got over the whole over-dressed issue pretty quickly but I would have had one more day of fun if I would have dressed appropriately. Dressing properly on a Las Vegas camping trip includes sensible shoes. Go beyond sensible. Find the most comfy pair of walking shoes that you can get your hands on and wear them.

There is a lot of walking involved on a Las Vegas camping excursion so you really want to invest in shoes that keep your feet happy. I found that my shoes were the cream of the crop and my feet were thanking me even on day one. Shoes are some of the most important things to consider when planning your Las Vegas camping trip.

Don’t forget your sunscreen. The sun is always shining. Okay, there is the occasional downpour that comes out of nowhere but the rain leaves as quickly as it comes. I’ve never seen anything like it. Sunscreen is a must on your Las Vegas camping vacation.
