Camping Equipment: What You Need To Take On Your Next Camping Trip

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

If you plan to go on a camping trip anytime soon, then it would do you well to take the advice of most veteran campers and prepare a camping equipment list. There are several reasons you want to have a list of camping equipment prepared before you leave. The main reason to create a list of necessary equipment is to ensure that you don’t forget any critical items that you may need. But it also will help reduce the stress of planning your trip and make your camping excursion a much happier experience.

Know What You Need

Knowing which camping equipment to bring is essential to enjoying a successful camping trip. There are many instances when a camping trip can be ruined simply because someone forgot to take one or more essential camping equipment items. And once you are away from civilization, finding a way to deal with the missing equipment can almost be impossible.

To give you an example, it might be kind of hard to put together your tent if you forgot to bring some of the tent pegs or ropes which could result in a loss of sleep. Some items which don’t seem that important may end up being the difference between a fun trip or a miserable one.

So it will pay off in the long run to create a complete list of the camping equipment you need to bring so that nothing important gets forgotten. This will ensure that you remember to take all the essential items and it will allow you to eliminate some items that may not be necessary or applicable to the type of trip you are taking.

So what are the most important camping equipment items to bring? Most campers will take along an easy to put together tent, a sleeping bag, and even an Intex air mattress. If you can’t find an Intex airbed, then look or another brand name such as a Coleman air mattress. Other camping items you may want to bring include a back-pack, some comfortable hiking shoes, and a first-aid kit. Regardless of what you decide to bring, just take the time to make your list and your camping experience will be worry-free.

Camping In Mexico - You Need To Be Flexible To Enjoy It

Friday, September 25th, 2009

If you are a camper and you enjoy a challenge, camping in Mexico could be just the challenge you are looking for. It is a country of mystery and intrigue, but is you have never camped before, leave visiting Mexico until you have a little experience.  The last thing you need when on a camping vacation, is to find yourself in the  Chihuahuan Desert, believing you can stop at the next Chevron for bottled water, it aint  going to happen. The only thing you may find is a muddy puddle, or a Gila Monster if you are  lucky.

Planning is essential, and the trip to successful camping is to take everything you need, but not too much! However, no matter how well prepared you are, it is rare that a camping trip to Mexico comes off exactly as planned. If you are the adventurous type, this may just be the vacation you have been longing for!

Yes, prepare for every eventuality, but also be prepared to experience the most amazing  camping opportunities. If you camp in Mexico you will come home with incredible lasting  memories, but to remind you again, this is not for the faint hearted.

Having the clothing to be able to dress for most weather conditions is necessary, you could be in the scorching dessert one day and in the snowy mountains the next. You may even experience tropical storms.

To really enjoy a Mexican camping experience you have to be very flexible and be able to go with the flow. Because of the extremes, even the best lad plans go astray and you have to be able to adapt to this.

Making use of a camping checklist is a good idea, as this helps you to take what you need without overdoing it. These are available online, so make use of one. Shop for your luxuries in the US, while shopping in  unfamiliar stores in unfamiliar Mexican towns is fun, if you are a woman and you want a  Hershey bar now, you will be in for a long wait. Nachos can never replace your favorite  chocolate bar.

Never drink Mexican tap or river water, in fact no-matter where you camp, don’t drink the  tap water, you know nothing about it. Camping with dysentery is no fun; take it from me, the  idiot who ate fresh oysters from Brazilian waters. Bottled water is a must for drinking and  you may have to bathe in a puddle or river water, so take biodegradable toiletries. We all  have to do our bit to protect the environment. Make sure you take toilet paper. Remember the  Baz Lerman song “sunscreen”, take that too.

Make sure you have an emergency medical kit, you need it to be compact, yet comprehensive,  find a checklist for this online too. You never know when something as small as a headache will happen, or an emergency like your husband sliding down an arroyo and grazing his hands and knees, and giving you a headache.

A Simple And Easy Camping List–Possibility Or Pipe Dream?–Is It Even Possible?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

Making a camping list… What is practical? Do you like to get in with the great outdoors by cuddling with your loved ones around a campfire making Smore’s? Do you like to hike through the woods and see all that God has given us? Camping is the best way to accomplish all of that.

Some people are avid campers so they seem to know all the tricks of the trade on how to pack the least possible. There are few factors involved when packing for camping… How long are you going to be gone and what necessities do you have to have?

If you are only going to be gone a few days then the less stuff that you will have to pack. The cheapest and easiest way to camp would be to eat simple sandwiches and snacks such as chips. For these types of meals you will need to load your cooler with sandwich sliced meat, condiments of your choice, ice and drinks. The only other item that would be sufficient is paper towels or paper plates. This is a simple meal that anyone can fix.

Many avid campers go and camp just as if they were at home. They will pack pans to wash dishes in, dish soap, cutting boards and pots and pans just as if they were home. When we go camping we usually fix sandwiches for lunch and regular meals for breakfast and dinner. Preparing these items will make your list grow but really is no different than preparing them at home.

A few necessity items that you will need to pack is a grill, tarp, snacks, bath items, sleeping bags, comfortable cot and something to start a fire with.

Camping is an experience that the whole family can do any age and any sex. You can pack everything except the kitchen sink but after you camp a few times you will find yourself weeding things out and realizing that you don’t need everything after all.
